Senator Barack Obama Seems to Be A Living Embodiment of the Name His ParentsGave Him…Read OnBy Audrey uk – Feb 28th, 2008 at 7:26 pm ESTAlso listed in: 10 groups I Found This on the Net and wanted to share it with You..Barack Hussein Obama (What’s in a name?)
By Adoyo
For those who wonder about the real significance of Senator Barack Obama’s name: Barack: baraka: blessing (Kiswahili)
baraka: also berakhah , in Judaism, a blessing usually recited during a ceremony
baruch: Also related to “berakhah” or bracha (Hebrew: berakhot), which is a blessing.
baraka: also barakah, in Islam and Arab-influenced languages, meaning spiritual wisdom and blessing transmitted from God
“Baraka”, a rarely used French slang term for luck, derived from the Arabic word
Baraka, aka Nigella sativa , a spice with purported health benefits
Hussein: an Arabic name which is the diminutive of Hasan, meaning “beautiful” or “handsome”.
Obama: a Luo name (male) from Western Kenya (Nyanza Provice) which may derive from “obam,” which conotes “bending” or “leaning”.
also a surname in Japan and Equatorial Guinea
All told, Senator Obama seems to be a living embodiment of the name his parents gave him: he has lived a blessed life and seeks to share his blessing; he is beautiful to behold and to listen to – people are drawn to him and inspired when they hear him speak and consider his ideas; and in public life he is flexible and dedicated to leaning where necessary to help uplift others.I examined my own name and found that it accurately indicates some of my innate tendancies. Curiously enough, both my Luo name and my English name mean the same thing: thoroughness, purification and wonder/curiosity (among other things…) – who’d have thunk? How about you? Do you embody your name’s meaning?Mail to a Friend | Link | Comments (0) | Report Objectionable Content Education is the best defenseBy hermit – Feb 28th, 2008 at 7:25 pm ESTIt can be argued that an Economic Plan must include investment in education. • Expand the Family and Medical Leave Act: The FMLA covers only certain employees of employers with 50 or more employees. Obama will expand it to cover businesses with 25 or more employees. He will expand the FMLA to cover more purposes as well, including allowing workers to take leave for elder care needs; allowing parents up to 24 hours of leave each year to participate in their children’s academic activities; and expanding FMLA to cover leave for employees to address domestic violence.
  • Encourage States to Adopt Paid Leave: As president, Obama will initiate a strategy to encourage all 50 states to adopt paid-leave systems. Obama will provide a $1.5 billion fund to assist states with start-up costs and to help states offset the costs for employees and employers.
  • Expand High-Quality Afterschool Opportunities: Obama will double funding for the main federal support for afterschool programs, the 21st Century Learning Centers program, to serve a million more children. Obama will include measures to maximize performance and effectiveness across grantees nationwide.
  • Expand the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit: The Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit provides too little relief to families that struggle to afford child care expenses. Obama will reform the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit by making it refundable and allowing low-income families to receive up to a 50 percent credit for their child care expenses.
  • Protect Against Caregiver Discrimination: Workers with family obligations often are discriminated against in the workplace. Obama will enforce the recently-enacted Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidelines on caregiver discrimination.
  • Expand Flexible Work Arrangements: Obama will create a program to inform businesses about the benefits of flexible work schedules; help businesses create flexible work opportunities; and increase federal incentives for telecommuting. Obama will also make the federal government a model employer in terms of adopting flexible work schedules and permitting employees to request flexible arrangements.

Not going to work this time…we know and will tell the truthBy Karin L – Feb 28th, 2008 at 7:22 pm ESTSo, how pathetic is the attempt to “make”(imply that) Barack Obama is muslin/islamic? First of all; those haters are really discriminating against those who are of muslin/islamic cultures, and should be embaressed that they are showing their own ignorance and intollerance. Second, those haters are not getting the fact that “We the people” are tired of their hate towards others and their constant use of fear to manipulate the people of this country. Personally, I don’t care what religion Obama is as this is (suppose to be) a country with freedom of religion. Even though Barack is a christian and not muslim/islamic, it will be nice to have someone in the white house that actually has understanding and tollerance of other cultures and religions…I know I will be relieved by that shift in consciousness. I personally haven’t received any of the haters emails, but my mom in Wisconsin told me that Barack was Muslin. I, of course, told her the truth and refered her to BarackObama.com to check the facts herself. Each one of us million plus who know the truth must help Barack counter this hate. This is our country, and each us must stand up to the hate and negativity that has been abundant in our politics for decades. There is no time for hate and intollerance in this country, as we all have to unite if we are to recover from the Bush era. Go to BarackObama.com, read the facts (the truth) and share it with those who are misinformed. I really think Barack has a lot of bigger issues to deal with, so let us all help him out! Spread the positive vibration that is Barack Obama!

Mail to a Friend | Link | Comments (0) | Report Objectionable Content Changing an Undecided to a Barack StarBy Sue Figel – Feb 28th, 2008 at 7:19 pm ESTHey guys –

Mostly all of the people I work with know how into politics I am, and also are pretty aware of which side of the spectrum my views are. I have worked her e for 8 years. They also remember how I get during an election year.

Naturally, a lot of people around hered seek out my opinion. Recently, I have been approached with the burning question of “Sue, why Obama and not Hillary?”

Here is how I answer, and, it works:

1. Barack had the wisdom to not vote for the war and she did. She can’t even admit that she was wrong. That reminds me a lot of the stubborn side of George W. Now, considering that she finally did admit that during the debate the other night, although it had to be literally yanked out of her by the moderater, I point that out. That she had to be backed into a corneedr to admit this. Then I finish up with Barack had the judgement from the beginning, and was provided with the same information she was at the time.

2. We have an extraordinary edge this year. The best thing George W. did during his entire presidency was to do a bad job. He has so many people interested because he was so losy. There are so many Republicans that are williing to vote Democrat this time araound. But they HATE Hillary. We will lose that edge by nominating Hillary. We all know how long the GOP has been planning their attacks on Hillary for when she decided to run. Simply put, Barack has more of a chance in November that she does.

3. Educate yourself on Barack’s senate record vs. Hillary’s senate record. Very similar, but Barack’s record is a lot more effective and aggressive than Hillary’s is. Her intent inplies more that she has been trying to appease people than actaully g etting things done. Barack’s have more sponsorship, and actually have more meat to them. Be sure to also point out that her time as a first lady is really no more experience that Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” campaign, or Barbara Bush’s literacy programs. Be sure that both candidates have about the same amount of time in the senate, and in that time, Barack is definitely the candidate that has used his time more wisely.

I try to stick to these points, since you don’t want to go overboard with anyone. Not everyone is as interested in these types of things as some of us are. .These three points seem to be strong enough, to the point, and don’t lose interest. If you come across someone who would like to spend more time in a discussion, I’m sure these subjects will lead to much more. But these worked pretty well for me canvassing last weekend in Ohio, and they’ve been working at work as well.

Change an undecided’s mind!!!! YES WE CAN!!!!

We welcome Barack Obama’s condemnation of the anti-Semitic rhetoric of
Minister Louis Farrakhan, and his making clear that he did not agree
with his church’s decision to honor Farrakhan with the Dr. Jeremiah A.
Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award.

Issues of racism and anti-Semitism must be beyond the bounds of
politics. When someone close to a political figure shows sympathy and
support for an individual who makes his name espousing bigotry, that
political figure needs to distance himself from that decision.
Senator Obama has done just that.

The head of the Anti-Defamation League says it’s time to pack away the
Farrakhan fears when it comes to Barack Obama.

“He was very clear,” said Abraham Foxman, the ADL’s national director,
describing the response of the Illinois senator who was asked in a
debate Tuesday about the public praise he received over the weekend
from the Nation of Islam leader.

“He distanced himself and condemned it and rejected it,” Foxman said.
“What more do we want? On that issue we should move on.”

I am lexi, Linda’s grandaughter. I taught my Grandma how to fully use the internet. I really think that Obama is right for the job. He may not have as much experience as the other candidadtes, but that means nothing. On the debates when Hillary Clinton talks about Health Care issues for 16 minutes and doesn’t let obama talk, I realize that we should not have a RUDE president. I think Obama’s Health Care plan is the best because Hillary is saying to force everyone to buy it. Obama thinks that parents should supply it untill the child is 25. I think that is a great idea. Thank you!!!

Work took us there and we enjoyed the benefits of universal provincial health care. We were taxed at a higher rate than we had been in the U.S. and we knew that some of those tax dollars were used to cover health care costs. Our children were at home, they were covered just as were all other children in Canada, and there was enormous comfort for me as a mother in knowing we had health care security.

Our older daughter has returned to Canada from the U.S., has married and has young children. Her family enjoys the benefits of Canada’s universal health plan and she is clear–it’s one of the reasons she has chosen to be in Canada. She and her family receive excellent care and experience the same sense of health security our family enjoyed during our Canadian years.

I am now a participant in one of the largest universal health care programs in the world–Medicare. Before I became eligible for Medicare, I was dropped by my husband’s health care plan and, for four years, bought a high deductible catastrophic health insurance plan–deductible $5,000.

The sense of security I feel as a Medicare recipient is not universal in the U.S. One of the scandals of the U.S. health care industry is the lack of the most basic regular preventive care for people–even our youngest and most vulnerable citizens.  I feel great sympathy as I watch families struggle to pay ever increasing premiums and deductibles, or go without insurance.

We are a nation of creators and innovators. I believe creating a health care system that is truly universal and affordable is one of the most innovative and humane things we can do. People who are now afraid to walk away from health care benefits, should they be lucky enough to have them, would be encouraged to launch new businesses or continue their education, taking their fully portable health coverage with them.

Mail to a Friend | Link | Comments (4) | Report Objectionable Content Our Savior, BarackBy Sue Figel – Feb 28th, 2008 at 7:02 pm ESTMy fellow Barack Stars,

I sent this a message similar to this out the ORR group this morning, after reading everyone’s take on some recent developments concerning our opposition focusing on the coincidental middle name of Sen. Obama.

It seems a lot of folks have decided that the best way to combat this is to adopt his maddle name as their own and sign that to every email they send out. I’m not the only one, but I don’t think this is such a good idea. It only makes us look just as bad.

I’va also been thinking about all of this hair-splitting over endorcements, wanted or not, from various religious leaders on both sides. Barack has made it very clear that any kind of endorsement from Farrakhan was not a solicited or welcome one, and he has made it crystal clear that he both “rejects” and “denounces” any sort of endorsement.

Sen. McCain has this Hagee fellow’s endorsement, and we are all wel aware by now that he’s no better, a Catholic-hater and a homophobe.

Also, we’ve all dealt with our oppostion poking fun at us for our hope and devotion to the candidate we have all chosen to support. they saay we’re “cultish”, “delusional”, and all of that other stuff.

We have done a great job so far by taking the high road to this sort of typical and usual politics. By taking our cue from Barack, we have all learned that the  best way to deal with these sort of attacks is to remain calm, stick to the facts, and not get emotional about it. We have the truth on our side.

So, I thought a fun mantra for us to adopt could be “W.W.B.D.?” Or, What Would Barack Do? The way this campaign is being run is working! It’s not the same old political nonsense. When we are attacked, we set the record straight in a calm and factual manner, always with a bit of humility and humor.

Always try to keep in mind how Barack would react to something when confronted with an uneducated individual’s attack about Barack being a terrorist or whatever ridiculous things we have to look forward to that they can imagine. Keep the message on track, and stay informed.

Mail to a Friend | Link | Comments (0) | Report Objectionable Content Economic growth may not make majority prosperousBy Prosperity – Feb 28th, 2008 at 6:59 pm ESTHow does the economy grow?  Here is an example.

Suppose that a nation consists of one CEO making $200000 per year and his two employees earning $100000 each per year.  The annual gross domestic product (GDP) or size of the economy is $400000 in this nation.

Suppose then that the CEO eliminates the more productive worker to rehire him as a consultant for $20000 per year.  The CEO also borrows for the company $100000 from himself. This plan of cannibalization and increased funding will be supported by the less productive worker still employed, at least when this worker’s pay rises by, say, $10000.

After restructuring, the CEO decides to take an increased salary of $300000 and the two employees get $20000 and $110000.  Such restructuring raises the size of national economy (total income 300000+20000+110000) to $430000 from $400000 or a growth in GDP of 7.5%.  The average employee salary falls to (110000+20000)/2 = $65000 or 35% and the CEO’s pay rises 50% to $300000.  The company’s indebtedness grows by $100000.  The company’s cash position improves by $70000: cost saving of $80000 through firing and rehiring of a productive worker plus new debt $100000 minus increased pays of $110000.

Such unbridled CEO sophistry to raise his pays drives the effective workers to perpetual economic slavery with long hours of work.  Such sophistry is unfortunately camouflaged by raising GDP growth that the self-serving CEOs and ex-CEOs hoot as the strength of the U.S. economy.  But the country is becoming vulnerable in reality. The example illustrates that economic boom measured by GDP growth does not translate into prosperity of the vast majority that is supposed to rule in a democracy. Rad groups like far right and far left ‘cling-ons’ to Presidential Candidates are just looking for FREE PRESS.

I do not wish to give it to them here are anywhere else.

One time a lot of years ago, I was the subject of a lot of very silly gossip from a woman new to the neighborhood.  I was well liked and she wanted to have the sunlight of the neighborhood to shine on her.

It was so ridiculous that every thing we had for supper hers was better, every interaction with her family was better, and our husbands were like minded and friends.

Finally I told the group of ladies we were with one time, and she was there, “I don’t mind, I would have to pay good money for PR like that.” V.

I have a very reserved, kind gentle repub friend of 15 years who is like a sister to me.  We play Nainamo Rummy and have tea and cookies once or so a week.  In this setting we discuss things in our lives and so on.

She suddenly offered, looking over her hand of cards, just out of the way of conversation, “A woman running for President and its Hillary.”

She is keeping up with me and the Obama news.   I told her that I am doing this for our adult kids and their generations.  She knows me well enough and respects my thoughts on things.  She is agreeable with the Obama message and reads the web site and views videos.

Obamacan for Barack Obama 44th President of the United States. V.

The headliner on the Home page of this web site says:

“I AM ASKING YOU TO BELIEVE.  Not about my ablility to bring about real change in Washington…I’m asking you to believe in yours.”

Barack Obama is a leader that has already brought about change in America and we as individuals have made personal changes because of him.

Thank you Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States. V.

That’s OK, I will vote for an intelligent, right minded, forward thinking individual that has worked so hard for everything, and the brutal tasks each day to continue the hard fought campaign.

My demographics:

I am alive, I am a US Citizen, I am registered to vote, I have one vote in Nov. Praise God.

Best wishes for you today, It is a lovely sunny day in Bellingham. V.

Dear Howard Dean,

There was a lot of talk last week about Hillary Clinton’s blatant hypocrisy on ethics and integrity in Washington.

Hillary Clinton is now ignoring the campaign requirements when she was asked for disclosure of Federal Income Tax– funds she used as a loan that helped keep her campaign going.
But now that the lobbyist and special interest money has started pouring into her campaign, she’s trying to back out of the promise she made.

We are demanding that Hillary Clinton be held to the campaign finance laws. Trying to back out shows a total lack of integrity and honesty.
Now that she’s flush with lobbyist cash, she wants to pretend that it never happened.

Hillary Clinton loaned her campaign 5 million Dollars. Because she couldn’t find enough people to fund her campaign, which by using the personal funds she has received but not disclosed publicly in the Federal Tax Records.

She has spent money like there is no tomorrow after Super Tuesday and by staying in the campaign for President is further wasting monies that could be spent on the national to win the White House or is she staying in until she gets paid back, wasting our money to defeat her nomination?

She has not won the nomination and has the support of the Democrat lobbyist and special interest machine, she’s trying to ignore that the whole thing ever happened. She recently told the American People in the Ohio Debate Feb. 26, 2008, telling them that she giving her Federal Income Tax Records out but that was a big job and she was busy.  It was as though she does not have any other person in her employ to help with that.

Hillary Clinton isn’t asking because she knows she’s ripping a page right from George Bush’s playbook: ignoring the laws when they aren’t convenient and hoping no one will notice.

Stand up and show her that hundreds of thousands of people have noticed — she can’t change the rules in the middle of the game because she doesn’t like how things are going for her:
Using government when it’s politically convenient and breaking the rules when it’s not … remind you of anyone?

Hillary Clinton thinks she’s above the law. Hillary Clinton poses as a reformer, but seems to think reforms apply to everyone but her.

Time to send Hillary Clinton a message.

Dear Howard Dean,

There was a lot of talk last week about Hillary Clinton’s blatant hypocrisy on ethics and integrity in Washington.

Here we go again.

Hillary Clinton is now ignoring the campaign requirements for the primary that came when she asked for disclosure of Federal Income Tax– funds she used as a loan that helped keep her campaign going.

But now that the lobbyist and special interest money has started pouring into her campaign, she’s trying to back out of the promise she made just a few months ago. They’re feeding so much cash into her bank account, this “reformer” wants nothing to do with federal campaign finance laws anymore.

That’s why today, we’re filing a formal complaint with the demanding that Hillary Clinton be held to the campaign finance laws. Trying to back out shows a total lack of integrity and honesty — she made a deal with the American people to to abide by the law.

I’d like you to add your name in support of our complaint, and ask as many people as you can to sign on. American taxpayers made a deal with Hillary Clinton — now that she’s flush with lobbyist cash, she wants to pretend that it never happened.

Here’s the background on the situation.

A few months ago, Hillary Clinton loaned her campaign 5 million Dollars. Because she couldn’t find enough people to fund her campaign, which she secured by using the personal funds she has received but not disclosed publicly in the Federal Tax Records.

By loaning the campaign money she has spent money foolishly with abandon like there is no tomorrow after Super Tuesday and by staying in the campaign for President is further wasting monies that could be spent on the national to win the White House. Or is she staying in until she gets paid back and wasting our money to defeat her nomination?

Now that she has not won the nomination and has the support of the Democrat lobbyist and special interest machine, she’s trying to ignore that the whole thing ever happened. She recently told the American People in the Ohio Debate Feb. 26, 2008, telling them that she giving her Federal Income Tax Records out but that was a big job and she was busy. To the American People it is very clear that any request to withdraw from the agreement must be approved; you can’t just change your mind and take it back — legally.

Hillary Clinton isn’t asking because she knows she’ll never be granted permission, and she doesn’t want to have to accept the funding restrictions she agreed to when she used the money as a loan. She’s ripping a page right from George Bush’s playbook: ignoring the laws when they aren’t convenient and hoping no one will notice.

Stand up and show her that hundreds of thousands of people have noticed — she can’t change the rules in the middle of the game because she doesn’t like how things are going for her:

Using government when it’s politically convenient and breaking the rules when it’s not … remind you of anyone?

Just like George Bush, Hillary Clinton thinks she’s above the law. Hillary Clinton poses as a reformer, but seems to think reforms apply to everyone but her.

Time to send Hillary Clinton a message.

If the debate were a game show, ‘PICK YOUR CANDIDATE’, prize you win is the future of your country, the future of your offspring, the value of your and their lives, your property, finances, quality of life, ‘how would you play the game?’.

Who would you chose if you only had one pick, one time, like your vote?

After that one and only choice with no changes for the next 4 years this happens.

The person you pick, imagine that person in their chair at the table and in the other chair would be a continuous flow of foreign dignitaries, health care reps, lobbists, secretaries of state, defense, environment, commerce, finance, transportation, FDA, federal reserve, national security, the national budget.

From that continuous flow would be decisions made that affect every facet of your life.

The person you pick in that chair and how they interact and dialog is your one and only choice.

That’s exactly what is at stake here.

Barack Obama 44th President of the United States.

I am a transplant in WA.  I am an ‘Obamacan’.  Feels good, the TIME is NOW.  CHANGE is in the air.

There is nothing like springtime in Texas.  Big blue sky, fresh air, flowers, kids in the yard, drives in the country.

Welcome to the Obama site and campaign.  I was welcomed in my local area and wish to extend it to you.

Click on the logo up top next to Obama’s picture.

I emailed my repub friends and had them read the toggle down buttons on his views, play speeches and ‘Meet Barack’.  All of them were willing to read for themselves and make a decision.

That’s all I ask from them, read for themselves.

I am doing this for my adult children and grandchildren and all of their generations.  Enough of the past, let History sort it out, on to the future for our kids.

Join in the fun, everyone feels good about Barack Obama for 44th President of the United States.  V.

If you are new to the site and looking over who we are welcome.  I have found a warm cozy place in the local area of Obama supporters.  They have welcomed me with big generous smiles.  Real joy exists in the movement to support Barack Obama for the 44th President of the United States.

We have concluded our mission in caucus here in WA, and I want to reach out to you and tell you that this is my decision and have been sincerely happy in doing it.

My Opinnion: The ‘far rights’, foreign and domestic Corp have hijacked the repub party beyond the point of rational thinking.  I used to feel if big business survives, our economy will survive.  I now feel that it has become the problem.  Not all business is bad, it brings distribution of goods and services, new products, jobs etc but over reaching ethical boundaries with no control is not good in any format.  That is the root of the problem.

Being Pro-Life is not saving lives, Pro-Life legislation is Pro-Illegal Abortion.  No moral person would willingly be for taking of life at that level.  The only way to combat it is Education and empowerment , Hope and Change for the individual.

What ever your reasoning for looking into this campaign, I hope you find a reason to stay.

I feel Barack Obama has the intellect and ablility to bring people of like minds to his cause to make a real CHANGE in America and real HOPE for a new generation of Americans.

We are headed to the future, the past is over, let history sort it out.  We only have to take care of the History that is being written now.

ONE MILLION BEFORE DEBATE – LET’S SEND A REAL MESSAGE FROM US – DONATE NOW

LET’S LET THEM KNOW WE ARE HERE….

BARACK OBAMA 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
